What's new in Version 4.5.x
This page contains the notes for 4.5.0 and 4.5.1.
Version 4.5.0
Feature | Details |
Architectural upgrade to Microsoft Dot Net framework 4.5 and CSLA framework 4.2 |
Although this may not sound exciting to some, it is essential to keep our technology up to date so Case Manager is compatible with the latest hardware and software technology. It also provides the foundation for our web version. |
Web User Interface | The new web user interface allows users to access Case Manager from any device via a web browser. This was a major undertaking and a lot of consideration was given to utilising browser standards and ease of use while maintaining the functionality of our Windows version. |
MS Word DOCM support | MS Word templates with macros in 2007/2010 format (docm files) are now supported. Previously macros had to be saved in 2003 (doc) format. Refer to Document system settings for further details. |
MS Word content control support | Introduced in Word 2007 "Content Controls" are now supported. Again see Document system settings. |
MS Excel templates in 2007/10 format |
This includes xlsx, xlsm, xlst. Previously only xls files were supported. Refer to Document system settings also. |
Macros | Option added to automatically remove macros when a template is imported. This is turned on by default. See Document system settings again. |
Archive Feature enhancements | When a case is archived it is also marked read only. |
Support for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 | Keeping up to date with technology and the new platforms released by Microsoft, this version enables Case Manager to run on these platforms. |
Document Title searching | Able to search documents using Title as well as text within a document. See Find document for more information. |
Permissions for individual custom fields and tabs | View and Modify permission can be set for both Custom tabs and individual Custom Fields for better data integrity. Refer to Security groups. |
Workflow improvements |
Option to set start and finish time of a standard working day. Option to allow a task to be completed prior to the start date /time. Ability to define duration, lag and reminder lead in either hours or days. See Workflow settings. |
Age limits for clients | Increased age limit of a client to 120 years. |
Ability to move email attachments to the files system |
Rather than being stored with the database, all email attachments can be moved to the file system. This reduces the database size by up to 90% with an overall net disk space saving of around 30%. |
Version 4.5.1
Erase Case | Ability to remove Case information but optionally maintain financial information. This is to comply with privacy legislation to delete all personal information after 7 years for workers compensation cases. For more information, see Introduction to security groups and permissions. |
Archive cases to Read Only | An option to make all archived cases read only. Refer to Configuration Settings for Archived files for more details. |
WorkCover SA changes for new invoicing standards | When creating an invoice, round costs so that the total per charge code per day is a multiple of 6 minutes. When producing the WorkCover SA export file, certain activities are summarised by charge code into a single item |
Second address fields for Contacts | A primary and street address can now be recorded for all contacts. See Contacts grid for examples. |
Option to use current date instead of date sent when dropping emails on the document tab. | When an email is currently dropped on the document tab the document date is set from the date it was sent. An option has been included to use the current date / time instead. Refer to Document system settings for further details. |
New permissions |
New permission to alter case allocation and to set the Case number. See Introduction to security groups and permissions for more details. |
Roles visible when selecting contacts from a list | Where the contact list is case related it will now also display the 'roles' assigned to the contact for the current case (much the same as it does in the Case contact list). This has been changed in the following places: Email selector (Email address edit pop up), Document details (also on add new document) Appointment details, Task details and Invoice details. |
Adding a 'Save As' button to Saved views | Clicking the button will do the following: Save the current view using the existing view name with ' - Copy' appended to it. Load the new view. The user can then rename it as required and click save now. See Saved views for more information. |
Adding Title Field to Document templates | Now that merge fields can be inserted into the subject line of emails (and the title of new documents), the description field has become an awkward way of selecting a template when creating a new document/email. This feature adds a new title field to document templates. This will be used to create the subject for new emails, and the title for all other document types. The existing description field will remain as the identifier of a document template. Go to Create Word templates for more details. |
Claim number field size increase | Increased to 50 characters. |
Disabling workflows for closed cases | Provide two new global options to prevent new workflow tasks once a case has been closed. The first option disables workflow triggers, thus preventing the creation of a new workflow instance once a case has been closed. The second option prevents follow on tasks from being created by workflows that have already been triggered for the case. Refer to Workflow settings for more details. |
Category based access to cases | Provide a mechanism to allow employee access to cases via categories (similar to the way you can currently do this using office or team). There is now an employee - category association in the employee list. A category checkbox has been added in the employee filter of the Case list criteria (employee is a member of the category that the Case is assigned to). See Employee List for more information. |
